Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (born in Rionegro 1949 – died in Medellín 1993), was a Colombian drug trafficker who built an empire called the Medellín Cartel (a drug trafficking organization).

In addition to being responsible for the production and distribution of around 80% of the cocaine shipped to the United States in the 1980s, he was also known for having ordered the bombing of Avianca Flight 203, kidnapping and murdering countless people in Colombia.

He died on December 2, 1993 in a neighborhood of Medellín called Los Olivos – La América. In the midst of his death there are several types of opinions about what really happened, although the official version is that the search bloc killed the drug trafficker.
